3.13 Quality of Child Care

This page includes data from the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families on quality of child care. The YoungStar program evaluates regulated child care providers based on a set of quality, health, and safety standards using a five-star rating system. Child care providers are considered to be meeting quality standards if they are rated with three stars or better, with five stars meaning the highest quality. Providers with two stars meet only health and safety standards, while providers with one star do not meet any standards. Child care providers are encouraged to apply for certification but not required.
